We're committed to achieving net zero across our local government area by December 2050, and we now have the road-map to assist us on this journey! Our Community Climate Action Plan outlines 57 key actions across 7 themes, and provides us with a framework for tackling climate change across the City. Community Climate Action Plan (Comm CAP)
The Community Climate Action Plan (Comm CAP) was developed in conjunction with our community, through extensive stakeholder engagement, building on the results of the Vulnerabilities, Risks and Opportunities report, and with the assistance of our Community Climate Action Group (CARG). The intent of the plan is to drive collaboration and community activation, to accelerate action within the City to reduce emissions, and to adapt and build resilience in the face of climate change as we work towards our net zero 2050 target!

We are lucky to work with hundreds of local volunteers who help on a regular basis to undertake work in our local bushland, wetland and river foreshore reserves.

We offer a few different subsidies and rebates to encourage sustainable choices and reduce the amount of waste going to landfill, including a compost bin rebate, worm café subsidy and cloth nappy rebate. Use your lime-green lidded FOGO bins correctly to collect food and garden waste at your kerbside. This leads to a significant reduction in emissions because the organics waste gets composted rather than going to landfill where it would release methane gas.

We have identified transport as being one of our key metrics for emission reduction. In Perth, 42% of car trips are less than 3km long (10 minutes by bike). For these shorter trips consider walking or riding a bike or investigate electric options including scooters or bikes.
