MelSafe - one team for community safety and compliance (24/7)

MelSafe is the City of Melville’s integrated community safety and compliance service, bringing together Rangers, Parking & Compliance Patrols, and the Community Safety Service into one coordinated team.

Our mission is simple: to make it easy for you to get help when you need it. Call 131 247 — anytime, day or night.

We operate 24/7, 365 days a year to support a safe, fair, and welcoming City.

What MelSafe does (at a glance)

Community safety and patrols

  • High-visibility patrols across neighbourhoods and activity centres
  • Attend and monitor after you’ve contacted police, relaying intelligence to assist investigations
  • Holiday Patrols - if you're away from your home for an extended period of time, register your home for a Holiday Patrol. Our MelSafe Officers will patrol your property regularly and will contact you or a designated contact person if anything seems out of the ordinary.

Compliance and Local Laws

MelSafe is your one-stop shop for local compliance matters, handling everything from parking to public space amenity.
  • Parking enforcement — including 24-hour coverage where required, ensuring safety, turnover, and accessibility
  • Verge compliance — managing obstructions, hazards, and unauthorised use of verges
  • Fire compliance - enforcement of the rules around firebreaks
  • Noise complaints — attending noisy parties, persistent disturbances, and late-night disruptions
  • Animal management — dog control, nuisance complaints, and safe cat trapping in line with the City’s new Cat Local Law
  • Local law enforcement — addressing illegal dumping, misuse of public spaces, unsightly properties, and other breaches
  • Abandoned/unregistered vehicles — investigation and coordination for removal
  • Event & public space compliance — ensuring permits, accessibility, and safety requirements are met

Emergency & Incident Support

  • Assistance to WA Police, DFES, SES, and St John Ambulance
  • Scene safety, cordons, welfare checks, and traffic/pedestrian guidance
  • Rapid deployment of mobile CCTV trailers and relocatable units to support prevention, response, and investigations

  • Body-worn cameras: Enhance officer safety, capture reliable evidence, and reassure the community — supported by clear City policies on when and how footage is used
  • Mobile CCTV trailers: Rapidly deployed to deter antisocial behaviour and assist with investigations
