Reserve a wildlife camera
If you would like to make your garden more wildlife friendly, check out ReWild Perth for species specfic advice for your suburb. For some example actions, see below.
Carnaby’s Cockatoos
- Plant food in your garden: banksias, hakeas, grevilleas, callistemons, eucalypts, corymbias, agonis or nut trees like macadamias or pecans.
- Provide a water source that has 1) safe perches (eg. trees or a fence) nearby for the flock, 2) is cleaned regularly, and 3) is away from hazards such as roads or dogs.
Quenda
- Quendas love thick mulch/leaf litter and dense shrubs. They will drink from shallow water bowls at ground level
Motorbike Frog
- Add habitat pond or frog hotel to your garden.
Southern Boobook Owl
- Use “owl safe” rodent baits or other control methods. Owls will die after eating mice or rats that have been poisoned.
- Plant tall habitat trees or add an owl nesting box to your garden.
