Riseley Street Road Mural
Leading WA artist, Joanna Brown completed a 200 metre road mural, titled The Metrochromes, on a section of Riseley Street from Wilcock St roundabout to Canning Highway. The mural design was inspired by nearby Yagan Mia Wireless Hill and combines native botanical forms with geometric shapes to redefine the street as a playful and inviting thoroughfare for the precinct, connect the east and west and assist in traffic calming.
Riseley Parklet - Mandjar wer Nyin
As part of our work implementing the Riseley Placemaking Action Plan, we installed a parklet on Kearns Crescent outside of C15 Espresso.
A parklet is a small, temporary and moveable public space located in existing carbays and is designed to be a welcoming space for all the community to sit, stay, enjoy and connect with others. It features the colours and design of the Riseley Centre branding as well as native plantings.
We received 57 name suggestions and the submissions were narrowed down to three final selections which the community voted on, and the chosen name was “Mandjar wer Nyin” which means to meet and sit In Whadjuk language. It is a combination of two Whadjuk language names submitted by community members which was approved by elder Aunty Marie Taylor.
Riseley Centre Place Brand
