YOUTH STEERING GROUP
Our Youth Steering Group is currently seeking applications from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander young people!
If you're looking to make a difference to the City of Melville or if you have an idea for young people in the City, then we want to hear from you. The Youth Steering Group is made up of local young people who catch up monthly to:
- Help create and coordinate workshops, events, activities, engagements and communications
- Discuss issues and ideas that are important to you and your community
- Provide feedback to the City on decisions that impact young people
- Support us to make our City a safe and accessible place for young people
- Support the City to champion the values of the Directions from Young People Strategy, and oversee the delivery of actions. An 'action' is like a goal - it's something you want to achieve.
As part of the Youth Steering Group you will have the opportunity to help make your community better for young people. You'll also gain experience in leadership, teamwork, community engagement and event design. There will be free training opportunities, and snacks at every meeting!
It’s a funway to learn new skills, make a difference, meet new people! Applications to fill vacancies in the group are open all year, however at this moment we are only seeking applications from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander young people. If you aren't of that community but are still interested, feel free to get in touch and say hello and we might be in touch at a later date.
