Mayor Katy Mair

Introduction 

Born into a Dutch migrant family, Katy Mair was raised in the City of Melville. The values of perseverance, respect for the environment, and a strong sense of community were instilled from a young age, laying the foundation for a lifelong commitment to public service and local leadership.

Education and Professional Development

Driven by a passion for learning and personal growth, Katy pursued a Bachelor of Arts, followed by a Diploma in Education. Recognising the importance of effective governance, she completed the Australian Institute of Company Directors Course, equipping herself with the skills necessary for responsible leadership and strategic decision-making. These academic achievements underpinned her ability to approach complex community challenges with insight and integrity.

Katy’s dedication to public service is reflected in extensive involvement as a Councillor and Mayor for the City of Melville. Throughout her tenure, she championed local safety initiatives, actively supporting Neighbourhood Watch and working closely with residents and law enforcement to foster safer neighbourhoods.
