Help shape the future of community grants.

Last Updated: 27 January 2026

Community grants play an important role in supporting local ideas, groups and initiatives that help bring people together and strengthen our community.

The City of Melville recognises the value of these local initiatives and supports them through community grants. To ensure grants continue to meet community needs now and into the future, the City is developing a new Community Grants Framework.

We’re inviting the community to share feedback on how community grants should work in the future - including what’s working well, what could be improved, and where there may be gaps or missed opportunities. Your feedback will help shape how community funding is designed and delivered in the years ahead.

Anyone in the Melville community can take part, including residents, ratepayers, community groups, sporting clubs, local businesses and individuals with community ideas. You don’t need to have applied for a grant before - we still want to hear from you.

Complete our short online survey below by 4.00pm Monday, 2 March 2027. Feedback received will help inform the development of the City’s new Community Grants Framework and ensure future grants better reflect community needs and priorities.

Alternative ways to share your feedback are available on request.

FAQs

Community needs, expectations and ways of working change over time. This review helps ensure community grants remain accessible, relevant and aligned with the needs of the Melville community, while supporting the priorities and direction set out in the City’s Council Plan for the Future 2024-2034.

All existing grant agreements will remain in place and will not be affected by this review.

The City of Melville Community Grants Program is currently on hold and not accepting new applications while the review is underway. This pause ensures we can gather feedback and make improvements before reopening the program.

It is anticipated that elements of the refreshed Community Grants program will launch in July 2026, and published on the above website.

While all feedback will be considered, participation in the engagement does not guarantee funding or immediate changes. Final decisions will be made by the City of Melville Council and Administration as part of the framework development process.

Grant budgets are determined through the City’s budgeting and business planning process. This engagement focuses on how grants are designed, structured and supported.

We’re keen to hear from a wide cross section of the Community including people with and without grant experience.

We want our engagement process to be accessible by all. In addition to the online survey, you can share your feedback by contacting us:

  • Over the phone, 9364 0666
  • In person, at the City of Melville Administration Building located at 10 Almondbury Road, Booragoon WA

Please note that only one submission per person will be accepted. Multiple submissions will be removed.

Your feedback will be used to inform the development of the City’s new Community Grants Framework. A summary of engagement outcomes will be shared once the review is complete.
